Precision Jig for PCB Assembly
CircuitWorks Manufacturing
Interview Opportunity
Due December 15, 2025
Design a precision assembly jig for securing PCBs during component placement and soldering operations.
Problem Statement
Create a modular jig system that can accommodate different PCB sizes while maintaining precise alignment during manual assembly. The jig should allow easy PCB insertion/removal and provide access to both sides.
Requirements
- Accommodate PCBs from 50mm × 50mm to 200mm × 150mm
- Positioning accuracy: ±0.1mm
- Quick-release clamping mechanism
- Rotation capability for double-sided work
- ESD-safe materials
Constraints
- Aluminum construction (6061-T6)
- Maximum footprint: 300mm × 300mm
- Must be manufacturable on standard 3-axis CNC
- Budget: < $200 for materials and machining
Deliverables
- STEP files with detailed dimensions
- 2D drawings with tolerances
- BOM with sourcing recommendations
- Assembly instructions
